Description
A quick and easy 20-minute weeknight dinner featuring salmon fillets glazed with honey, garlic, and soy sauce, roasted alongside asparagus on a single baking sheet for minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds salmon fillets (wild-caught sockeye or farmed Atlantic)
- 1 pound asparagus spears
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for asparagus)
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 lemon, sliced (for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet (half-sheet pan) with parchment paper.
- Rinse asparagus and snap off or trim the woody ends. Toss with 2 tablespoons olive oil and salt, then spread in a single layer on one side of the baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and black pepper to create the glaze.
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place on the other side of the baking sheet, leaving space between fillets.
- Brush the top of each salmon fillet generously with the honey garlic glaze.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Asparagus should be tender-crisp with slightly charred edges.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges and optional garnishes like parsley, cilantro, or red pepper flakes.
Notes
Pat the salmon dry before glazing to ensure the sauce sticks. Do not crowd the pan; give the salmon and asparagus space to roast rather than steam. If fillets are over an inch thick, bake for 15-18 minutes. Check temperature at 12 minutes to avoid overcooking.
