Description
A refreshing, no-chop, no-strain spiked watermelon lemonade perfect for Labor Day parties. Made with frozen watermelon chunks for a slushy texture, this cocktail is ready in just 5 minutes of active prep time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups frozen watermelon chunks
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1/2 cup simple syrup
- 1.5 cups vodka
- 1 small bunch mint leaves
Instructions
- If making simple syrup from scratch, mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1/2 cup hot water until dissolved and let cool.
- Add frozen watermelon chunks, fresh lemon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup to a high-speed blender.
- Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and has a thick, slush-like consistency. Add a splash of water if too thick.
- Pour the vodka into the blended mixture and stir or pulse briefly to incorporate.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more simple syrup or lemon juice as needed.
- Pour into a large pitcher, add ice, and garnish with fresh mint sprigs and watermelon or lemon slices. Serve immediately.
Notes
Frozen watermelon chunks are essential to prevent the drink from becoming watery. For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the vodka. The drink is best served immediately but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 hours before serving.
