Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers: Best 20-Minute Holiday Recipe

  • Author: Rebecca
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These crispy, spicy, and creamy bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers are the ultimate holiday appetizer. Naturally gluten-free and easy to make ahead, they offer a perfect balance of smoky bacon and tangy cheese filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 medium jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz (225g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (100g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco or Frank’s)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 pound (450g) thick-cut bacon
  • Brown sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease it. Place a wire rack on the sheet if available.
  2. Wear gloves and slice jalapeños in half lengthwise. Scrape out seeds and white membranes using a spoon or melon baller.
  3. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Generously fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture, packing it in tightly.
  5. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a slice of bacon, tucking the end under or on top to secure.
  6. Place poppers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until bacon is crispy and peppers are tender. Check halfway through.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with brown sugar if desired.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation. Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling. For extra crispiness, use a wire rack. These can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge before baking.
