Air Fryer Cinnamon Sugar Donuts with Vanilla Glaze

  • Author: Rebecca
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Quick and easy homemade donuts made using refrigerated biscuit dough and an air fryer. They are pillowy soft inside, crisp on the outside, and coated in cinnamon sugar with a sweet vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky or original biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (for coating)
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or whole milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze)
  • Optional: Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the 8 biscuits. Gently peel apart if stuck.
  3. Use a small knife or finger to poke a hole in the center of each biscuit to form a ring shape (approx. 1 inch diameter).
  4. Melt the 4 tablespoons of butter in a small microwave-safe bowl.
  5. In a shallow bowl or on a large plate, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and pinch of salt.
  6. Brush both sides of each biscuit ring lightly with melted butter.
  7. Roll the buttered donuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated. Place on parchment paper.
  8. Place 3-4 donuts in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  9. Air fry for 6-8 minutes until golden brown and firm to the touch. Check at 6 minutes.
  10. While donuts cook, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of cream/milk until smooth. Add more cream if needed for consistency.
  11. Remove donuts from air fryer and place on a wire rack to cool for 1-2 minutes until warm to the touch.
  12. Dip the top of each donut into the glaze, letting excess drip off.
  13. Add sprinkles if desired and let glaze set for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not skip preheating the air fryer for best results. Use parchment paper with holes poked in it to prevent sticking. Do not overload with sugar to prevent burning. Cool donuts on a wire rack to keep the bottom crisp. Glaze only when donuts are warm, not piping hot.
